Business Analytics for SMBs: How Big Data in the Cloud is enabling SMBs access to the same tools Large Enterprises have.

Today there is so much information and hype about “Big Data” and Business Intelligence/Business Analytics (BI/BA), how can business executives and IT leaders wade through what is reality and what is marketing hype? Come hear some of San Diego’s leaders in dealing with Data (whether it is Big or not) and all things concerning ways to get the most out of that data.  This discussion will cover what is really being done in the market today and what the panelists believe the future has in store for BI/BA for both enterprises and SMBs.

     Paul Barsch

Paul directs marketing programs for cloud, hosting and managed services for Teradata, a leader in data warehousing and analytics. Paul has also worked in senior marketing roles for global consultancies EDS (an HP company) and BearingPoint.


Our expert panel:

 

  Ed White 

Ed is the General Manager of Teradata Cloud, manages a cross-functional team responsible for the global development and deployment of Teradata’s Cloud strategy and solution. Ed oversees the strategy, product development, product management, marketing, and global deployment of Teradata Cloud. Ed has over 20 years experience in the computer industry in Sales, Strategy, Marketing, R&D, and Product Management. Ed holds an MBA from San Diego State University. He resides in Carlsbad, California with his wife and three children.


    Dustin Vannoy 

Dustin is the Director of Business Intelligence at Bridgepoint Education where he leads a team focused on building analytic data solutions to enable business users and analysts to answer the key questions that drive business decisions. He has been with Bridgepoint since 2010 in various roles focused on data warehouse development, BI architecture, and BI management. In his current role, he is responsible for leading the development team and determining what technologies should be part of the analytic ecosystem to empower analysts to do their job well. Prior to joining Bridgepoint, Dustin was a Business Intelligence Consultant in Chicago where he had the opportunity to work with a variety of companies that needed help moving forward with BI and data warehousing, with a strong focus on enabling self-service BI. Dustin believes that the primary goal of BI and Analytics is to make peoples’ lives easier by giving them quick insight into the world around them.


    Ben Sullins 

Ben started out as a data analyst in the late 90′s at the old phone company MCI. Ben's 4 years at MCI gave him a great understanding of how local teams empowered with the right data at the right time can have a massive impact on the larger enterprise. Ever since then he's focused his career on helping organizations leverage data to drive better decision making. Ben brings nearly 15 years of Business Intelligence experience paired with a strong business acumen to deliver results to his clients. Currently Ben spends his time helping the web stay open, safe, and free at Mozilla and also publishes Big Data and Business Intelligence training courses on pluralsight.com
